No, every Yoto card needs a Yoto Player or the smaller Yoto Mini to play. If the child doesn't have one yet, a card makes a lovely add-on to a Player given as the main gift, or something to put on a gift list so a card and a Player can be gathered together across a few people.
Which card is the safest choice for a six or seven year old?
